This year Raleigh Mennonite Church won a Vital Worship grant from the Calvin Institute for Worship to study anti-racist worship practices. A theme throughout our year of exploring anti-racist worship practices has been the tension, intersection, and division around queer justice and racial justice in the churches we met. We met a Black queer pastor who started a church where queer and racial justice was central to their identity. We met churches who refused to engage queer justice but were deeply committed to racial justice. We met many churches who are working through what their commitments are and how this will impact their churches.
We wanted to bring in a few people who live at the intersection of minoritized race and sexuality to offer their wisdom on these questions. We hope you’ll join us and share this opportunity with others!
